DUB-HAM: One Last Time

Mittwoch, 10. Juni 2009, 13:10 Uhr von Felix

Chris, who revived his nerd braces for his last days in Ireland, left on Tuesday. Of all farewells, this one was the easiest. I’ll see him at the latest in some months in Bamberg, where we both study in the same department. Thanks for great nine months, Chris!

The day after, my brother, who could not come over during the easter break due to exams, arrived. The two of us spent a few nice days in and around Dublin. Here is a selection of photos that he took:

On the 8th, almost exactly nine months after my departure from Germany, we took the plane to Hamburg and subsequently the car to the house of our parents in Alfeld.

It’s over now. The Irish chapter of my life has ended and I have learned a lot. Not only about Ireland and Germany, the English language or other cultures, but also about myself. I got to know a lot incredible people and made friends, whom I miss already. I hope these friendships will prevail despite spatial separations.

It was nice to meet you, Ireland. Germany, it is nice to see you again.

As mentioned earlier, I went to Alfeld in order to celebrate my little sister’s confirmation. It was really nice and I met relatives I unfortunately do not meet as often as I would like to.

Moreover, I spent a night in Hannover with my friends Oli and Marian (thanks for the invitation) and celebrated my brother’s last leaving exam at school. Of course, I took the opportunity to take some photos that might give you an impression what it looks like where I grew up: in a provincial, but nice-to-look-at backwater in the South of Lower Saxony.

I forgot to take pictures of the „Planetenhaus“, another great timbered house. I am going to post a follow-up. When? Well, „otro dia“.

As promised earlier, here are some impressions from my trip to the lovely town of Bamberg two weeks ago.

If you think that I spent all the time eating, you hit the bull’s eye. One spare rib all you can eat, three barbecues…

Today I returned to Ireland. I had a great time in Alfeld where I shared some good ol‘ German beer with my „homies“, spend a lot of time with my family and ate way to much of the „good stuff“.
I could write for ages without covering even more than yesterday evening (which was truly brilliant!), but I prefer to dedicate this blog to my adventures in Ireland and I think noone would like to read all of that anyway.

So here I am. Back. Finally. Why „finally“? Well, while my flight to Germany went well, coming back was rather stressful. Diesen Beitrag weiterlesen »
